From left to right, it is dropped into a solitaire pave setting, a round halo and finally a cushion halo engagement ring setting. You can certainly see the "halo effect" of increasing the apparent size of the center diamond when you go from the ring on the left to the other two on the right. What is even more interesting is how the cushion halo to the far right adds an even more dramatic appearance than the round halo in the middle. The cushion halo fills out the edges more thus adding more diamond surface area and an even bigger look. Just something to consider when deciding between these styles. October 8, 2015 Engagement Ring Band Styles: three row pave vs single row We get asked this question often: What do you think of the three row pave bands vs the single row? Engagement ring band styles are important to decipher since it determines the look of your ringThe answer depends on a few things. The main idea is to get something that fits your personal style. It needs to compliment the size and shape of your center diamond. For those seeking some extra sparkle and flash, the triple row should be a strong consideration. Those who prefer the center-stone to be the main attraction should opt for the single delicate row. This will measure around 1.8mm in most cases. Not to mention increased setting work and more metal to be incorporated into the design. Once you choose that, it will be easier to narrow down your choices and select your engagement ring. September 11, 2015 Diamond Diary: A beautiful elongated cushion cut It's rare to come across a perfect cushion however this diamond of the week most definitely has it all. Here we have a 3+ carat elongated cushion cut diamond. Firstly, the fact that it is elongated means you achieve a better face to weight ratio on the center stone. Oftentimes cushion cut diamonds are cut too deep or even to shallow and therefore will look smaller than their actual weight and causing light leakage or a milky stone which does not have a nice brilliance or shape to it.Having an elongated cushion with a proper depth percentage gives you the right face up ratio and the perfect amount of sparkle. An elongated cut of almost any stone gives a graceful effect when worn on the hand as it mimics the shape of a finger and still looks its size. The cut of this cushion gives a crisp clean look with beautifully clear facets. September 9, 2015 Emerald Cut Diamonds Emerald cut diamonds are in a class of their own- elegant, understated, and always stylish. They give a traditional and vintage feel however depending on the setting can look incredibly modern. These are step cut as opposed to brilliantly cut like round, cushion etc...Some think that because these diamonds have fewer facets than other fancy shapes making them have no sparkle . This however is not the case- when a well cut emerald diamond catches the light it will offer a beautiful flash of light.
