Getting to Know: VNR-13877

So, you figured out that you want a round cut diamond with some type of diamond setting. When a classic engagement ring comes to mind most will automatically think of a round brilliant cut center diamond. Round diamonds offer amazing sparkle and a timeless appeal because when cut to perfection they are the most fiery from all diamond shapes. These beautiful center diamonds have proven to work amazingly well in so many of our different custom crafted setting designs be it a solitaire, three stone ring, halo, and micropave designs. Now if you definitely do want something traditional opt for a round with diamonds on band however that does not mean your setting design has to be boring!

Today we want to go into a bit more detail on one of our absolute favorite setting designs that really take an otherwise everyday setting to a whole new level. We present VNR-13877 which you can have a detailed look at here. It's a traditional round cut diamond set into a diamond band. At first impression this may sound like our usual diamond setting however special details added to make it a unique design and you can start off by watching some videos of different variations of this custom engagement ring design here

Cathedral- a cathedral is when the band of the engagement ring connects directly to either the halo around the diamond or in this case the basket holding the diamond. A cathedral setting provides a very structured feeling to the ring being that the ring's top and bottom at more than one place resulting in a more sturdy feeling. The cathedral design creates a very connected and nice flow to the ring that we love.  See the profile of our gorgeous 4 carat radiant cut engagement ring from this design family shown to the left

Fishtail- when micropave diamonds are set there is a very slim edge of metal left  on either side. If you want the diamonds on the band to have a more pronounced design opting for fishtail is a great idea. Fishtail are tiny cut outs along the side. This is a subtle detail, but when you look at the band from the top it gives the appearance that the diamonds are further extended on the band.

Diamond basket- we know we DO NOT have to tell you anymore how much we truly adore the diamond basket detail on an engagement ring. The subtle hint of sparkle from the profile view combined with the added support of a basket holding the center diamond is a real winner!

Diamond detailing- just in case you thought we missed something check out the diamond detailing along the stems holding the basket. We have also added micropave set diamonds to the bridge or gallery of the ring as well. This means there is really no extra metal showing within the ring whatsoever for a truly sparkly and brilliant look.

Split claw prongs- when you look at the prongs holding the diamond to the setting you will notice that they are split claw prongs. Claw prongs are essentially a slender prong holding the diamond that tapers to a fine point. When you opt for split prongs that single prong has been divided into two. The division of one single prong essentially makes the entire prong holding the diamond appear more delicate and refined. This is a really subtle detail but something that helps create a more delicate appearance.

We have crafted many variations on the VNR-13877 so keep in mind that everything is customizable and we can create it in any color metal combination as well!

Add a split band: if you are looking for extra finger coverage opt for something like the RS-285 featuring a round cut center in a delicate micropave split shank. The split band creates the look of more space being occupied in your hand. Also notice the prongs on this one wrap over the basket making the basket appear less prominent.

Change up the metal colors: a classic setting will take on a whole new look by adding subtle hints of color. Check out our brand new model SOR-16224 featuring the same overall look at the 13877 however the basket of diamonds is done in rose gold. Another option is going for the entire ring in rose gold, save for the top prongs done in white gold to intensify the white look of the center diamond and have the prongs blend in better with the center.
